As Genius Hour comes to an end, I am happy with the whittling skills I have acquired. There were some bumps in the road, but I overcame them and whittled on. I completed about 3 full projects, and while that may not seem like such a great feat, they each took time and effort, especially since I have never done this before. With each little project, I improved on my techniques and grew a little better at what I was doing. I plan to keep whittling after Genius hour ends because it is a calming and rewarding hobby.

I’ve made the decision to put off my cat project temporarily. I want to find a design that is quicker to complete and will have better payoff. Im thinking of choosing something is has the same basic shape as my wood blocks in order to not have to work around cutting the block down before even beginning. I have many designs saved and will hopefully be able to find one tonight to start on. With Genius Hour ending soon, I am proud of my progress, but hope to be able to complete as least one or two more projects.

My wooden cat is being a pain in the butt. Trying to whittle proper proportions while also keeping clean cuts is very hard. It does not look even close to a cat and that's grinding my gears. I'm not sure if I should keep going with this project , or perhaps sideline it and start a new one until I'm better at overcoming those obstacles. At the very least, in my 7 or so weeks of whittling, at least I still haven't cut my fingers off yet. I'm hoping to figure out how to whittle animals soon, because that was my goal in all of this whittling.

This week for whittling I have continued on with my little wooden cat. Its proving to be quite difficult, because of its size and angles, but I'm excited to see the outcome. I still haven't figured out my wood block dilemma, but I'm hoping Mr. Kelly can help me out with cutting some of the blocks down to the correct sizes. I have issues asking for help, but in order to keep progressing with my whittling at the pace I want to, I'll need to suck up my pride and utilize other people.
